Utillian 620 Review

Before I start digging deep into all the features the 620 has, I want to address the price-point. The Utillian 620 costs $129.99 USD. This is on the cheap side of average, where you can usually expect decent performance without too many bells and whistles. However the 620 really packs in A LOT considering the price. Features like haptic feedback, a glass vapor path and precise temperature control had me thoroughly impressed!

Utillian really focuses on designing straight forward vaporizers that perform above the industry standard. While I don’t see a huge performance difference from other Utillian models, the 620 certainly outperforms the competition at the ~$150 price point.

Precise temperature control is a very well received feature that not all Utillian models offer. To me it is one of the most important features of a vaporizer. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to the temperature they vaporizer their bud at. Having the ability to dial in the exact temperature you want (between 160° C and 220°  C) ensures users have complete control.

Keeping with their straight forward design philosophy, the 620 is a breeze to operate and clean. The entire mouthpiece is secured with a magnet, making it simple to pack, re-pack and clean when the time comes.

A digital display lets you monitor temperature as well as battery life. Another feature I really appreciate. It beats the hell out of a small LED that changes color depending on the temperature setting, and having to guess how long the battery will last.

Heat up time is pretty quick at ~40 seconds. One thing I had to change immediately was the auto-shut off timer. Default out of the box auto-off is set to 4 minutes, but you can easily change this to extend the time to 5,6,7 or 8-minutes.

Now let’s get to the meat of the issue. How well does the Utillian 620 perform? I’m delighted to say that the Utillian 620 performs pretty much on par with its Utillian brothers and sisters. It offers good vapor quality and efficient heat distribution throughout the oven. While Utillian never blows me out of the water in terms of performance, they consistently come in with above average performance. Virtually always out-doing the competition at a given price point.

I do really feel like Utillian is making strides in the right direction with this 620. The digital display, precise temperature control, glass mouthpiece, and even a hidden stir-tool are all things I wanted to see in previous models. Combining all these features into a single model to add to their reliably consistent product line is very nice to see. They’re pushing the whole industry forward by raising the bar. A few years back you couldn’t imagine getting a vaporizer with half as many features for this price.

Build quality from Utillian is often very solid, and the 620 is no exception. It’s simple, solid and intuitive. One gripe I’d have would be about the buttons. They simply aren’t very nice to press… I can’t put my finger on it (ha!), maybe it’s the plastic-ee material, or the size, they just don’t feel great. Plus the ‘Up’ button can get stuck from time to time which sends my temperature sky-rocketing.

To sum it all up, the Utillian 620 is a fantastic vaporizer at a fantastic price! It’s feature rich and performs quite well in terms of vapor quality. I have to keep reminding myself that this is only a $130 vaporizer, it is some of the best bang for your buck right now without a doubt.
